Joy
A series of colourful abstract paintings made in 2021.
I took a map of the world and ripped it up, isolating countries then painted the ripped sections in bright colours. The colours don’t have any political or geographical significance. I threw the papers up in the air and photographed these random compositions.
Through this simple exercise one could make hundreds of combinations, I thought this could be used as a visual metaphor for people and countries coming together. They remain distinct but when thrown together they form a unique composition. I want to create a sense of optimism, paintings which have a celebratory and hopeful feel and capture a moment of anticipation before the pieces reach a final resting state.
I continue to work on this series both using paint and pixels, adventures in the world of NFT have begun at rariblecom/lucyjagger.

Mapping emotions
A series of arresting abstract paintings which explore the transitory nature life - when a moment of delight is also your downfall.
These paintings were generated after a number of nights out in Soho, London. I had been going out in Soho and noticed the mounting collection of receipts and taxi stubs in my bag, I was very unhappy at the time but trying to distract myself with friends, booze, whatever. One night I threw all the receipts up in the air and they looked quite beautiful. It was a moment of reflection and focus. I repeated this took photos and began to develop the series of paintings - mapping emotions.
I hope that they give a viewer an opportunity to lose themselves in the paintings and reflect on how they feel.
